Current Context & Challenges
It’s all about change!!
Key to this current landscape of seismic change is a fundamental re-evaluation of ways of thinking as people/organisations adapt and grow.
In particular:
-
Partnership working – focus on the interconnected nature of ourselves as individuals, work, services (both within and across agencies and organisation).
-
Cutting through the old patterns and seeking a seamless way of working with a clear outcomes focus.
-
Challenges ourselves on our ‘normal’, and growing and building adaptability and flexibility to think creatively and innovatively – thinking out the box.
-
Customer focus with an emphasis on outcomes.
-
Service stability and consistency, combined with individual personal resilience and well being.
Given the need for a fundamental shift in thinking and in practice within the context of COVID 19 everything has changed. Over the last few months, both individuals and organisations alike have experienced significant and enforced change, highlighting our need to ensure our capacity to change and challenge the old ways of doing things, often connected to our individual relationship with imposed change. With this new context of moving from the known to the unknown, old behavioural habits, language and mindset have been challenged as we all search for new ways to do things. As individuals and services have been disrupted from the previous ‘non negotiable’ map. Personal resilience, positive mindset and ability to adapt have come to the forefront as a recipe for any successful organisational culture.
As we know, everyone is searching for ‘what the new normal ‘is. What we do know that it will not be a case of ‘previous service’ will be resumed with business as ‘usual. Within this context, the importance of clarity of ethics and focus on thinking and acting differently to achieve key outcomes is vital.
Times like these really focus on our actions – shifts in patterns of behaviours and the way organisations relate to individuals and to each other. We have seen some positive, significant and impactful examples of people actively working across and in partnership with other agencies or services– driven by the need to focus on customers and adapt quickly to create greater stability for the new normal and future ways of working.
The challenge is to share new thinking/practice, maintain momentum - build on and consolidate.
The time is now!
